Have you ever wondered why you can buy pants to fit you in a size 10 one week, only to find that a week later you are a size 14? Looking into this mystery, I found some very interesting answers that surprised, or at least, enlightened me.First, it’s important to understand the size dynamics of the clothing industry. Even numbered sizes are generally considered a misses cut, since they are a little bigger than an odd numbered size, the latter being intended for juniors. It’s also important to make sure which department you are buying from, whether it be juniors size clothing, wholesale missy size clothing, or womens size clothing.
It’s true, what may be a size 8 in one store is not necessarily the same 8 in another. Sometimes it is larger, sometimes smaller. But why is there such a difference between sizes? Does it have to do with the stores in which we buy our clothing? You be the judge.
American consumers are obsessed with size. Super-Size, Value-Size and when you’ve had enough of that, there’s Plus Size. Understanding this obsession, clothing manufacturers have invented their solution to our clothing size strife called “Vanity Sizing”.
Vanity sizing is adding some extra inches of fabric while not changing the size of the clothing. So an article of clothing could be a few inches bigger than it was a decade ago, while it’s still tagged as the same size 4.
The main way to find true to size junior, womens or wholesale missy size clothing is by asking the vendor.
The bottom line is, you need to wear what looks good and fits well, forgetting about the number that’s in back.
