So it’s that time again. August. And it’s still sweltering, but you’re fully stocked for Fall anyway, and people are pouring in with hopes of reinventing themselves or their children this school semester. So how do you get ready for this event? We’ve put down some of our best strategies for you.
Now is the time to stock up – All the distributors have their summer goods at low markdowns because now is the time when people look for fall items. It’s so easy to find clothing sales and clothing bargains this season. Stock up on things that you know will sell if you hold onto them for a season. Or buy them cheap, and put them out already on sale. It’s still plenty hot, and customers will want to snag deals along with their more expensive items. It’s an excellent lure.
Don’t assume that school means kids – So many shoppers during this time are college students, or even recent graduates who need to start a whole new business wardrobe. Don’t leave them out. Stocking young, fresh professional work attire will bring in those looking to make themselves snappy for the first day of their graduate classes, or for a promising interview.
Buy in bulk – make sure you carry complete size runs of your products. If you only have size sixteen, but you’re missing out on all the fourteens and eighteens, you’re alienating half your clientèle. Most pre-packed wholesale goods are packed along the ratio that customers actually buy.
Don’t let your customers do all the bargain hunting – the best way to ensure that you’re offering competitive prices is to ensure that you’re buying competitively. Check and see what promotions your favorite distributor is offering.
