Sex and the City Fashion

The long-awaited premiere of the Sex and the City film is reportedly becoming a fashion-fight and diva-fest.

A source told the Mirror that various fashion houses are competing to dress Sarah Jessica Parker for the event, with one offering to dress her son James for life if she signs with them while another is offering around $4million of designer gear if she picks their gown. Bvlgari and de Beers are also said to be amongst those vying to provide the actress with accessories for the red carpet affair.

But it’s not just fashion houses fighting with each other over the event - the source explained there is also tension between SJP and her three co-stars Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon: “There is huge rivalry about who is wearing what. It’s insane. And the film’s stylist Patricia Field is stuck in the middle because everyone keeps secretly asking her who is wearing what. They are determined not to be outdone by each other.”

Supermodel Kate Moss regain’s her crown of Glamour magazine!

katiemoss.jpgBritish supermodel Kate Moss has regained her crown at the top of Glamour magazine’s annual best-dressed women list, replacing 2007 winner Kylie Minogue who slumped to 19th this year.

Moss, 34, dominated the list before the Australian pop star overtook her, but Minogue’s fashion choices during the past 12 months have been too “outlandish” for many voters’ tastes, a spokesman for the magazine said.

Behind Moss was British actress Sienna Miller in second place, followed by U.S. actresses Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Bilson and Jennifer Aniston in third, fourth and fifth places respectively.

“Kate’s back with a vengeance,” said Jo Elvin, editor of Glamour, of the poll decided by Glamour readers. “Her maverick approach to fashion is an inspiration and shows us all how to be a little more daring and experimental.”

Minogue’s slide was partly blamed on her appearance on television talent show the X Factor wearing a figure-hugging lace catsuit that divided viewers and fashion watchers.

Topping the worst-dressed list in Glamour this year was U.S. singer Britney Spears. Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham was voted ninth worst-dressed of 2008, but also came 10th in the best-dressed list.

A new season of fashion hits the small screen

A new season of fashion hits the small screen

Unique Stretch Missy Blouse Forget Fashion Week. This season, designers are all about the boob tube.

Long before “Sex and the City,” fashion and television were feeding off each other, but it’s never quite clear who’s the chicken and who’s the egg in this relationship.

“I think it’s symbiotic,” explains Elle magazine fashion director and “Project Runway” host Nina Garcia. “We’re not just drinking the Kool-Aid here. But sometimes it does seem like fashion is one big ‘Project Runway’ episode, and everyone got the same assignment.” And this season, it’s all about what’s on the small screen.

So what TV-inspired styles should we be copying in the coming months?

“For spring and summer, there’s a lot of bright colors, florals and ladylike clothing with a bit of bohemian twist,” explains Garcia. “Fall will be a lot heavier, with Gothic, medieval, romantic looks.”

The key to keeping these looks fresh and not too costume-y are the accessories. “The newness is more about the jewels and the accessorizing. There was a lot of jewelry - both costume and real on the runways. With the recession, it’s a way to update your wardrobe more easily instead of buying a whole head-to-toe look.”

For more info on spring looks, check out the May issue of Elle magazine, on newsstands tomorrow.
